"The
rugged mountains of the Costa Blanca offer wonderful
walking in a landscape of pinnacled ridges, enourmous
crags and shady pines. Orange and almond groved enhance
the valleys, whilst attractive mountain villages provide
hospitality, offering a taste of the real Spain."
Abdet
is situated in the heart of the Costa Blanca walking
area. Ideally placed for a wide variety of walks, some
straight from your doorstep! The peaceful village has
only 100 residents yet you are certain of a warm welcome.
Other popular areas include
the Sierra Aitana, Monte Ponoch, Puig Campana; the Val
de Arc; the Benidorm Area - Sierra Helada, Sierra Cortina;
Sierra Serrella/Aixorta; Val de Algar; Val de Galinera/Forada;
and the North-west Sierras.
You will find more than enough
walks to keep you going for a couple of weeks in the
local area though.
Cycling and Mountain
Biking holidays in Spain - The Guadalest Valley
and the surrounding area provide excellent cycling
and mountain biking. You can tackle the challenging
hills, exhilarating descents, or just take it easy
along the nearby "Greenways" (converted railway
lines), which can be accessed nearby.
In September the Tour of
Spain passes through the area, and many of the world's
top cyclists battle it out on the region's most fearsome
hills.
We provide route suggestions,
maps and information sheets for you.

Climbing
The Guadalest Valley has some of Spain's
best adventure climbing. There is also easy access to
many well developed sports (bolted) crags such as Sella
and Toix. Just a few minutes walk from the house are
the recently developed El Flare routes.
The Guadalest
bolted routes (also good for bouldering) are just
15 minutes away. Be sure to check out our free
PDF topos. The Puig Campana which boasts classic mountain
routes of all grades is only 40 minutes
drive away. The crags around Sax and Alcoy are all within
one hours drive. In fact just about all the venues featured
in the Costa Blanca Rockfax guide are within 60 minutes
drive time.
Swimming Pools
There are several great swimming
pools in the valley open during the summer months. Guadalest
pool is open the longest from June to the end of September.
Other are open July and August. Prices are no more than
2 Euros for a day pass. The pools never seem to get busy
and the settings are truly amazing. All pools have a
small cafe for refreshments/icecreams, etc.
